The Top Nine Worst Foods

October 2015 No comment
Ever wonder what makes food nutritionally sound? Do you even know how to spot bad food? Some of the items ranking high on the worst food list seem healthy but are so laden with chemicals and pesticides, they’re no longer fit for consumption.

Among the worst foods to eat, the following ten top the list:

  1. Microwave Popcorn. Bags are lined with cancer-causing perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and diacetyl and 2, 3-pentanedione (PD) which is linked to respiratory problems.
  2. Fat-Free Ice Cream. The body needs fat to absorb and use fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
  3. Artificial Sweeteners. Known for having terrible side effects, aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin cause headaches, weight gain, and even contribute to the development of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
  4. Canned Soup. Full of MSG and sodium, canned soup is nowhere near as nourishing or economical as homemade soup.
  5. Pesticide-Loaded Fruits including Apples, Strawberries, Nectarines, Peaches, and Grapes. Apples have the highest level of pesticide residue with grapes, strawberries, nectarines, and peaches following.
  6. Conventionally Grown Corn. Genetically modified or engineered, corn is full of toxic herbicides. It causes an imbalanced ration of omega-5 and omega-3 which causes inflammation.
  7. Hot Dogs. Processed meat is full of salt and nitrates which increase the risk of colon cancer.
  8. Donuts. Full of sugar and unhealthy fat, donuts don’t even have nutrients or fiber and just serve as a source of empty calories which pack on the pounds.
  9. Swordfish. With the highest mercury content of commercial fish and shellfish, it’s the type of food that should be avoided by everyone especially pregnant women.
