Natural hickory smoke flavor is a food additive that gives food a hickory smoke flavor, this flavor is usually made by heating hickory wood. This flavoring is used in meats, hams, barbecue sauce, cheese and flavored chips. Natural hickory smoked flavor is basically acetic acid, dimethoxyphenol, 2-butnone and water.
